Movie Review: Sweeney Todd

Rating: R

Plot: The daemon barber of fleet street seeks revenge in this Broadway thriller. After being sent away for 15 years under false pretenses, Benjamin Barker is back and ready to wreak havoc on the man who destroyed his family, and in turn his life. Sweeney Todd a.k.a Benjamin Barker returns to London after being sent away by Judge Turpin with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop where she sells "the worst pies in London." With the help of Mrs. Lovett, Todd tries to rid of all the people who have ever done him wrong and hopes to be reunited with his daughter, Joanna, who is now Judge Turpin's ward.

Cast: Johnny Depp as Sweeney, Helena Bonham Carter (Mrs. Lovett), Alan Rickman (Judge Turpin) Timothy Spall (Beadle Bamford),Jamie Cambell Bower (Anthony Hope) and many more. Sasha Baron Cohen (of the infamous Borat) makes an appearance as Signor Adolfo Pirelli.

Warning: Blood! Gore! Blood! Gore! BLOOD! During the opening credits we see Blood dripping down the London sewage system and razor blades. This is only a slight warning of what's to come. Every slit throat (I'd guesstimate around 15 or 20) is shown in full detail, complete with sound affects and torrents of blood. Perhaps a bit more mild in comparison, each body is baked into pies (which add a remarkable boost to buisness)

Acting: A+! No wonder this film has been nominated for 4 Golden Globes. Johhny Depp is OUTSTANDING as Sweeney. And to answer the question i'm sure is pressing upon everyone; yes. The man can sing. As can Bonham Carter. The woman is equally as stunning as Depp, acting, singing, and otherwise.

Directing: Well, Tim Burton has done it again. I was swept away into the dismal sreets of Dickensian London. Each shot is dreary and downcast, yet artfully done. It fits the mood of the story, and Burton's famous style. Costumes and makeup were fantastic, especially when it came to Sweeney and Lovett. Special affects and MUSIC were equally well done. Eye and ear candy!

My Review Of Swenny Todd

Swenny Todd-

I was a pretty wicked movie i must say, Although Johney Depp isnt that great of a natural singer he pulled it off pretty well

The movie was EXSTREMLY violent and gorry but i feel it could have been tonned down a little

The Actor who plays Tobby WAS SOOOOOOO GOOD AMAZING

And well Joanna was very good as well!

Oh My Gosh...

Dude, guess what I just learned?
Kristen Chenoweth is a Christian!
I never knew that...
that's so cool!!!

So that's just my 'whoa' moment of the day.
please comment!

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

I thought it was really good.  The first movie had more puzzling I think, and the second more action, but both had a fairly good balance.  If there was one thing I didn't catch, it was how finding the *blank* proved his grandfather innocent.  But I guess it's because it shows that that's what the person was after when they had him uncode the cipher or whatever...well yeah.  So it was a good movie!  If you're going to see it, either wait until it comes out on DVD or go in the morning.  it's cheaper.  :)

Audition Song

So, i've pretty much decided on an audition song: Dangerous Game from Jekyll and Hyde. BUt to tell you the truth, i think i kind of want the non singing part - it was the maid i think. Less pressure! and less singing...hehe. Not that i don't want a singing part. I do. I just...yeah

Well UC1...

I totally liked all the feedback you gave me on audition songs! So thank you.
Of course, then I ignored all of it. I figure if I'm supposed to sound relatively bad, it'll be okay if I do! Haha okay. Well I did think about what you said and I asked her about it, and Ms. West said that would be a fine one to do. So that's what I'm planning on: Just You Wait from My Fair Lady
How's everyone else doing in their preparation for auditions?
Katie, what are you going to sing?
haha Thomas. So excited Holly is auditioning!
Dude, SO many people are going for Leisel! It's craziness.

Oh, Thomas

So, a Jekyll and Hyde song, huh? That'll be way hard. That song is such an emotional turning point in the show. That'll be cool. I think I'm just going to sing Edelweiss. A little direct, I know, but it'll get to the point of how well I can sing the songs from som. I guess I'm not really that nervous. There's also a small part of me that wants to audition for Spelling Bee in Boulder more. It would be such a fun show, and I think I could do Leaf Coneybear or William Barfee really well. Agh! I just don't know. Fr a while, I've been trying to do stuff with companies other than school, so, we'll so how that goes! :)

So Once agian the hills are alive!

I am very delighted to add this blog to my blog collection (As Kelsey would say)

Its a wonderful blog were Actors,Directors,Thespians, and Friends can just chat about theater!

Soo

A new topic

Sound of music auditions are in TEN days and well

Who isn't freaking out?

I finely found my song, This is the moment from Jekyll and Hyde

It will be VERY challenging but i feel it will give me a strong audition if i can prefect it

and I am sooo relived that i found a song because this whole break i have been slaving over my computer and i-tunes tell 11:00 at night searching through musicals!!

AHH Not so much fun

Lets just say i know alot of musicals now!!

So what are your guy's thoughts on the auditions and what are you singing?

Hey!

You guys (namely Adam), Ka...I mean the BAKER'S WIFE really needs to be included in this. Is she not a thespian? I ask you, no, i IMPLORE you. So yes...don't be a bug-a-boo.

Woot!

Hey guys! Well I finally responded to afore mentioned email, you see.
Drama Nerds!
Well, tonight I saw Legally Blonde the Musical
It was okay, I suppose. I missed like...the first hour maybe, I'm not sure.
It was really self-driven, self-motivated. That can be a good thing, or it can't. Either way. I suppose it depends on the mood of the audience...

I'm so alone!!!

OKay, i can't be the only one who posts posts here. AJ, Thomas, you two need to keep up with this also. And yes, i'm talking to one of you in particular. *Cough - AJ - Cough*

Another Blog to Add to my Collection

Yay! Yet another blog to contribute to. AJ, i hope you don't neglect this one. So...is for all the drama nerds to let out their passion for the stage? Well, I'll assume so. It sounds like fun. I accept. Meanwhile you're in NYC...Greenwich Village, Times Square, BROADWAY.
Not that I'm bitter or anything. Hope you're having fun.
